Perth - Dubai

Kempinski Hotel - entrance to Mall of the Emirates

Well, here we all are again.

Landed safely in Dubai after 11 hour trip from Perth. Was a good trip. Managed to watch a few movies -
The Death of Stalin - the history teacher in me thought this might be good - total waste of space. Turned it off half way through

All about the money - really enjoyed this one. All about the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III

The Shape of Water - different, unusual, bit "as if..."

Had a nice little old lady sitting next to me who was really struggling with the technology. Gave her a bit of a hand, but she still kept pushing the wrong buttons.... aaah well...

Then I landed in Dubai. I must admit I had forgotten that travel can be a bit stressful. Just being in a different country with different languages and customs...
I'm staying over night so had to line up in customs queue. Took a while... Then I had arranged a lift to my hotel and just figuring out where to connect to the driver was a bit of a challenge...

But arrived at the hotel ok... here's a pic of my room. Very nice...

I had plans of going on a hop on hop off  us, but Dubai is 4 hours behind Perth and we landed here at 1pm Dubai time. I had an early start this morning - 3.30am pick for the 6am flight...
So I was starting to wilt.

Decided to just explore locally and I am right beside the Mall of the Emirates - a very big shopping center.
Had a coffee and a quick wander, but shops are shops are shops... Unlike some of my friends, I'm not really born to shop.  :)

One thing i did notice though was "Ski Dubai" an indoor ski and snow attraction in the Mall of the Emirates.

Ski Dubai

I'm glad I chose to stay overnight though. Just gives me a chance to catch my breath and catch up on some sleep.

One thing I have checked already though is that my international afl website works... and it does!!!
I'll be able to watch either live or the replay of all the matches. Think the time difference might not allow for live viewing though.

The important things in life are in hand!

  2. Hi Moira glad you made the first part of your trip safe and sound. Sad to see that you turned down the opportunity to go for a ski - still there is always the chance of catching up in Scotland!!!
Chris & Catherine saw the Shape of Water - don't think they were all that impressed either!
Hope your future connections go well.
Hope your next few days go just as smoothly
