Grey skies and rain in Oban |
The day started with a win and loss!
It was a waste of time me getting up early to watch the footy. Poor Hawks were thumped by bottom team Brisbane who hadn't won a game.... aaahh the joys and pains of being a footy follower...
That was the loss.
The win was that I jagged a park in the hotel car park this morning. I went out after breakfast just to check my car was ok and didn't have a parking ticket etc... and there were a couple of spots in the car park. I was in like Flynn!!!! It's good because it means I can take my time tomorrow and not have to rush out and put money in the meter by 9am. And it's always safer off the streets I believe.
Speaking of tomorrow, I didn't have any accommodation booked for the next 2 nights... I had half a plan to go down to Mull of Kintyre, but there were a couple of problems. Nearly everyone I looked at online was booked out, or they were mega-expensive. It's also quite out of the way for where I have to end up. On Wednesday I have to hand my car in at Edinburgh airport, and it would've been a decent drive in order to get there by 1pm.
So, once again we turn to Plan B. I was just looking at Google Maps, as you do, and I've decided to head inland towards Loch Lomond. I'm staying in Arrochar which actually fronts on to Loch Long, but is only 2 miles to Loch Lomond.
I also had half a thought of going to Glasgow, but once again parking becomes a problem. I have quite a few days in Edinburgh after I finish my train tour, so maybe I could just take a train up to Glasgow and do it that way.
Anyway, there's not much else to report today - it was raining in Oban.
Had a lovely morning coffee this morning at a coffee shop that looked out over the Harbour.

We are at Heathrow waiting to fly to Edinburgh, might bump into you along the way.
ReplyDeleteThat would be great if we did.... will send you an email... 😀
DeleteIt looks just as lovely in the rain (says she sitting in warm Noumea). We caught some of the Hawks game here and knew you would be a tad sad. Enjoy the rest. xx
ReplyDeleteThe rest was lovely. .So where’s the Noumea blog???? 😀
DeleteSorry about the Hawks loss Moira. Sam on the other hand was ecstatic about the Eagles win. We had no electricity yesterday so he watched it at my brother's place while I watched my 13 yr old niece playing at Hilton (they won too). I'm glad you are having the occasional rest day even if the weather is gloomy. 🌈
ReplyDeleteWe won’t mention the war!!! Looks like Perth’s weather is still quite warm. It’s going to warm up here again after today.
DeleteBTW I am very curious to know if "you'll take the high road or "you'll take the low road" to "the bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond"😄 I'm sure there'll be a story there to tell in the next episode of WW.
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention that!!! There are 2 possibilities for how I get to my next destination . Once curves around the top and one goes around the bottom. Guess you’ll just have to wait for the next exciting episode to see which way I went!!!
